NAKRB Muay Thai is a Martial Arts School
Building strength and discipline.
Integrative Defense Strategies (IDS) delivers a data-driven, principle-based approach to personal protection that fuses the science of motor learning with real-world application. Drawing from evidence-based research—including the latest insights from the Force Sciences—IDS training is engineered to develop high-performance protectors through context-driven decision-making and functional skill acquisition under pressure.
Around 2000, the KOMBAT ARTS first started with a bunch of guys training in a parking lot, in the shade of an 18 wheeler truck. I remember all of the large containers of water we would “store” underneath the truck and in the shade, to keep it cool.
When I finally took the jump to open up a martial arts school, it was in the aerobics studio, which was maybe 2000 sq. ft. in a Gold’s Gym. I opened the gym for a couple of selfish reasons: I wanted to train in a lot of different martial arts. I wanted to be around a positive peer group.
Unbeknownst to me, these same reasons started to attract a lot of attention. We started to attract a lot of students who also wanted to train in various martial arts, and be part of a community that fostered a positive learning environment.
Fast forward to a present day and the KOMBAT ARTS family, has expanded to a 8500 sq. ft. facility that teaches various martial arts including Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do, Kickboxing, Kali, Savate, Krav Maga, Self Defense classes, various Kids and Teen Martial Arts programs and a bunch of strength, mobility and conditioning programs.
Our students came to us for many different reasons. To learn the martial arts. Gain confidence. Get in the best shape possible, while learning a skill. Compete on the local, provincial, national and even the world stage.
They stayed, some for over 20 years, because they eventually became part of a positive peer group…our KOMBAT Family.
Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association was established in 1989 as the Alberta Community Police Advisory Committee by provincial Police Services as a means to discuss mutual crime related issues within communities/police/government. In 1990 it became the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association (ACCPA).
ACCPA's goal is to ensure safety to Albertans and their communities through education and crime prevention awareness.
Our philosophy is centered around self-defense and de-escalation tactics to avoid conflict where possible. In the event that conflict is inevitable, we give our students the tools to defend themselves and end conflict with minimal damage to themselves.
Taylor Jiu-Jitsu incorporates various parts of your body for striking (punches, kicks, knees, elbows, etc), joint locking techniques that attack the weaker points of your opponent’s body, the use of pressure points, clinching, throwing, off-balancing techniques to take your opponent to the ground, and grappling techniques to control and subdue your opponent from any further threat.
