TIDMAP - Program overview


The T4TCS program aims to provide individuals with a comprehensive approach to self-defence and martial arts training that is grounded in trauma-informed principles. By understanding the impact of stress, threat (including violence), and trauma on the body and mind, participants will develop the skills and resilience necessary to navigate challenging situations with confidence and agency.

It's important to acknowledge that violence can lead to a range of psychological effects. Individual experiences and reactions vary greatly.

It might seem paradoxical that a company like Train 4 Trauma Combative Sciences (T4TCS) promotes both trauma-informed practices and martial arts training. After all, violence has negative consequences. But it also serves a natural purpose: self-defence.


Understanding the dual nature of violence is crucial. Throughout history, individuals who have been willing to face danger have played a vital role in our safety. Without them, we wouldn't have the freedoms we enjoy today.


For those who have experienced or witnessed violence, certain aspects of martial arts training can be triggering. T4TCS addresses this by incorporating trauma-informed techniques and stress inoculation. These help us regulate our breathing and emotions in high-stress situations.
